As you know we like to keep you updated with the good work that we do for our community. Last month Craig ran the London Marathon in just under 3 hours which is a fabulous achievement and raised £1200 for The Feed.
“Many thanks from myself and all of the team at Rock Solid Graphics & Print for your donations and support”
You may recall that this year we have been volunteering our time to support home-grown Norwich social enterprise, The Feed. Like us, you were probably excited to hear that The Feed smashed their recent Crowdfunding target thanks to overwhelming local support and will now be serving tasty street food from their stall on Norwich Market. We felt that the least we could do to help them get up and running was to put some of our spare time into creating graphics and signage for them.
We will, of course, be continuing to support them in this fantastic new venture by buying our coffees and sandwiches from them whenever we are passing. But The Feed’s important work does not stop there.
For anyone who doesn’t already know, The Feed is the trading arm of social enterprise LEAP, which helps vulnerable and disadvantaged local people find accommodation, training and career opportunities. Maybe most importantly, The Feed and LEAP help the people they work with to get their confidence, self-esteem and self-worth back.
So, Rock Solid’s very own Craig Bowen-Jones will be sweating it out with over 40,000 others in this years’ London Marathon on behalf of The Feed. Craig has been busy training [cue Rocky music and montage] for 6 months running 60 miles a week and we would be eternally grateful if you could sponsor him – and help The Feed
Craig has kindly offered to match-fund the first £500 raised!
The money Craig raises will go towards putting local people through The Feed’s employment academy, Flourish. It helps to equip each graduate with the training, mentoring and skills they need to have a successful career in catering and every pound will be put to good use. You can see some of the ways Flourish employment academy has changed lives in this short video.
Craig said, “Having got involved with The Feed and seeing with our own eyes the brilliant work they are doing and how they are changing lives, we are determined to help them make a difference. I think most of us have dealt with difficult circumstances or fallen on hard times at one stage or another so we should all be able to appreciate the lasting impact things like unemployment or homelessness would have on our self-image. Running the marathon for The Feed feels very important to me and all the Rock Solid team and we would be incredibly grateful for any amount that our friends, clients and contacts could spare. Even if it’s just a couple of quid – it will all go towards changing local lives.”
